Upon the arid sands of Egypt’s vast embrace,
A sacred granite giant lifts its ancient face.
Two thousand meters high, into the desert air,
Stands Jabal Musa, wrapped in history and prayer.
Below its rugged ridges, where the valleys meet,
Saint Catherine’s holy walls rest at its stone-carved feet.
And scaling up the peak where winds blow sharp and cold,
A mosque and chapel stand, where timeless faith is told.
Here, in the shifting shadows of the mountain’s cave,
The prophet spoke to God, and sacred laws He gave.
Through forty days of silence on the craggy height,
The stone received the tablets in the blinding light.
By day, the summer sun beats hot upon the stone,
By night, the winter freezing claims the crest alone.
Yet through the biting chill and rare, white winter snows,
A clear, unpolluted sky in brilliant glory glows.
The pilgrims climb the path before the dawn can wake,
To watch the morning sun across the desert break.
For on this holy summit, where the heavens touch the land,
The echoes of the ancient truth forever grandly stand.
