A child is just a child, no matter where they go,
Beyond the reach of wealth, where bitter cold winds blow.
The media must shine a light on every hidden face,
And pull the small and lost from every shadowed place.
Poverty and hunger force young hands to work and steal,
While classrooms stand afar, and dreams are left untrod.
Illiteracy robs us of a future bright and grand,
And wastes the precious youth across a struggling land.
The rich must wake and aid, the state must gather all,
To lift the little ones before they stumble and fall.
The UN charter speaks of care, of safety and of right,
To keep a child secure through every stormy night.
To hold a parent’s hand, to know a family’s love,
Is written in the laws of nations far above.
Protect the right to grow, to heal, to live, to stay,
And guide the steps of youth into a better day.
