The Anchor

All people of the earth form one great family,
Born of the God who carved the universe.
When children suffer hunger and scarcity,
The grieving heavens bear a heavy curse.
The Maker watches how we shift our place,
Striving for wealth and seeking happier days.

A chasm deep divides the rich and poor,
Yet watchful eyes look down through day and night,
To bless the righteous souls who step before
The broken world, to lead them to the light.
He calls the wealthy ones to share their store,
To uplift lives and make their futures bright.

The birds and beasts of every changing feather
Are equal in the eyes of Him above,
Who builds and yields the earth’s unfolding weather
To teach us brotherhood, respect, and love.
Through tides of hope and seasons of decay,
Our fleeting joy dissolves into the clay.
For hollow is the pride of restless gold,
When final peace is all the soul can hold.
