An evening walk by the riverside,
Where water lilies raised their heads in pride.
A stormy wind was blowing in its rage,
As glittering waves leaped past the river’s stage.
The flowers flashed, outdoing one another,
Dancing in sunlit baths beside each other.
Yet sharp arose a snake’s uncommon spite,
As though its venom wrapped the turtles tight
Beneath the blooms. Amazed, I stood quite still,
Transfixed and startled by a sudden chill,
Yet wondering at the joy that could be found
Where shadows wander on this river ground.
The stream was dark, severe, and hard to brave,
Defying anyone to mix within its wave,
While golden stems maintained their timeless grace.
The screaming serpent, blind to time and space,
Knew not what consequences would arise.
Above, the glittering waves mirrored the skies,
Moving like never-ending stars in flight.
The stars and planets spun in crazy night,
Urged by the polestar leading from afar,
Burning through day and night, each restless star,
Shining for show, yet destined to remain
Bound to a dark and destitute domain.
