A tragedy dressed as a hero’s pride,
Where virtual blood and tears run deep,
A thousand brave soldiers step forward to hide
No more, from the dark fate they sweep.
Loud cannons fire in the morning light,
Like stars that fall in a fierce fight.
High up on the rocky and steep mountain ground,
Their names and their stories stay bright,
They faced heavy guns with a fearless bound,
And walked right into the night.
The crippled and weak find their freedom at last,
While shadows of sorrow fall fast.
Far away from the gentle touch of true love,
The cruel enemy sets up the snare,
Ignoring the laws of the earth and above,
Bringing trouble to all everywhere.
Yet the heroes who march through the deadly red glow,
Will never bow down to the foe.
