From Meccan horizons, a grand decree descends,
The longest warning that the Prophet’s city sends.
The seventh scroll of guidance, two hundred verses long,
To separate the righteous from the architects of wrong.
Before the earth was molded, before the dawn of breath,
A covenant was fastened, surviving life and death.
The progeny of Adam arose to testify:
“You are our Lord, the Sovereign, the Watcher in the sky.”
Yet arrogance ignited when clay was given form;
The fallen one rebelled, and vowed a timeless storm.
From front and back he whispers, to tempt the human soul,
To strip away our garment and break the spirit whole.
Behold the high partition, the wall of Al-A’raf,
Where deeds are weighed in balances, precise and cut in half.
They stand between the rivers of Jannah’s sweet delight,
And look upon Jahannam, ablaze within the night.
The ancient voices echo through dust of nations gone:
How Noah braved the waters before the promised dawn;
How Hud cried to the dwellers of ‘Ad’s majestic towers;
How Salih warned the Thamud who carved the rock with powers.
The sins of Lot’s domain, the scales of Midian’s greed,
Where Shu’aib called for justice to plant a righteous seed.
Then Moses raised the staff against the Pharaoh’s throne,
To lead the captive tribes across the sea alone.
Turn now from the ignorant, let fair forgiveness reign,
Seek refuge from the whispers that court the heart with pain.
And when the Book is read, let every voice be still,
To drink the boundless mercy of the Almighty’s will.
